Exhausted but motivated: off to Cuxhaven!
The 204 kilometers the day before had taken their toll on me. The next morning greeted me with legs that felt like wet concrete and a stomach that was at war with me - probably the sweet revenge of all the sugary snacks and drinks that I had devoured as "energy supplies". A big thank you to my trusty oat porridge, which calmed the chaos in my stomach a bit and got me somewhat functional again.
In glorious weather and with the tailwind as my faithful companion, I set off on the relaxed, only 79-kilometer-long journey towards Cuxhaven. The route took me over the Weser and along the North Sea coast, with a gentle breeze of sea air. In Cuxhaven I had a nice meeting with one of my professional team partners, Rik. Then it was time to quickly get on the ferry to Brunsbüttel. When I arrived in Brunsbüttel, I was so exhausted from the last two days that I completely slept through the European Championship final.

Cross-country to Kiel
On day 7, my route meandered cross-country towards Kiel - past the Kiel Canal, where the impressive ships glided across the water almost like skyscrapers. Then the route took me past the lowest point in land in Germany - yes, even the Netherlands would have applauded here - and through the small, world-famous Wacken. Without the heavy metal festival, it seemed almost peaceful with its wide fields. The gently rolling hills in the area constantly offered new views, and my bike seemed to enjoy the change as much as I did. Every climb was spiced up with a pinch of adventure - and a dash of sweat. But that's exactly what made the ride all the more exciting.

Breathe deeply and recharge with a sea view
The first week flew by - full of new impressions and experiences that almost came thick and fast. Time for the next regeneration day to recharge my batteries and upgrade my equipment - in other words: more chargers and cables, because my technology never wants enough power. I also treated my trusty bike to a chain lubrication treatment - after all, it had earned the wellness day. For active relaxation, I rode a short stretch with moderate exertion along the Baltic coast. The route took me through dense beech forests and past lighthouses. Finally, I ended up on a currently quiet beach, plopped down in a beach chair and treated my soul to a relaxing break. Just do nothing - and with the best view.

Dangerous Path and Coastal Weather
"Early in the morning, we set off directly along the Baltic coast. I followed my route to a narrow trail on the edge of the cliffs - breathtakingly beautiful, but I quickly realized that this path offered far more thrills than I had planned. The path was clearly too narrow; one wrong step and I would have rolled down the slope like a boulder. After 1,400 meters, I was able to turn inland onto safer paths that continued to run at a safe distance from the coast. Shortly afterwards, the weather decided to show off all its facets: sunny, then suddenly cloudy, strong wind and finally light rain - and all of this in 30-minute intervals. It was like a personal fashion show: jacket on, jacket off, rain jacket on, sweating, jacket off again... It's not fun, but the landscape? It just made everything better."
DAY 10

Freshly polished to the next country
"Kilometer by kilometer, the next national border came closer - but before that, there was still a lot to discover. First, the magnificent moated castle of Glücksburg. Then the border town of Flensburg. I happened to pass a car wash station and took the opportunity to give my completely dirty bike a shine - after all, I wanted to greet the next country properly. In Flensburg, I strolled through the historic old town and, of course, enjoyed a delicious fish sandwich at the harbor."
Hej Denmark
Just behind Flensburg I crossed a small wooden bridge and there it was: Welcome to Denmark! I had no idea what to expect there, but one thing was immediately clear - there was a relaxed and calm atmosphere here. I followed the Gendarmenpfad, a historic coastal path that used to be guarded by border guards - and I immediately felt a bit adventurous. The path meandered along picturesque stretches of coast, through quiet forests and wide fields, always with a magnificent view of the sea. The landscape and the soothing peace reinforced the feeling of serenity that Denmark radiated for me from the very first second. It felt as if the country was saying: "No stress, everything with peace and quiet and a sea view."
